PRECISION ELECTRICAL RESISTANCE MATERIAL
The CuNiMn range of alloys are in particular capable of being precision rolled to give a precise electrical metric resistance figure. This type of material has a temperature coefficient of almost zero, which in effect means that the material maintains a stable electrical resistance as it becomes heated. This stability is unlike most other materials that actually increase their electrical resistance as they heat up.
The extremely low temperature coefficient is a very desirable property in the manufacture and design of electrical shunts, where heavy currents flowing through a shunt would produce heat.
